Privacy Policy – Energy Usage IQ

This Privacy Policy explains how CoreTech Studios LTD ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the Energy Usage IQ mobile application (the "App"). This policy applies only to Energy Usage IQ. Other apps published by CoreTech Studios LTD have their own separate privacy policies.

We are based in the United Kingdom and comply with the UK GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018, the Apple App Store Review Guidelines, and the Google Play Developer Program Policies.

The App provides calculated results based on user inputs and typical usage patterns. Actual energy usage may vary.

1. Who we are

2. Information we collect

Energy Usage IQ is designed to work primarily on your device. We aim to collect as little personal information as possible.

a) Information you provide directly

  • Devices and appliances you add (name, wattage, usage hours, tariff details).

  • Energy tariff information (unit rate, standing charge, off-peak hours).

  • Optional feedback you submit through the in-app feedback form.

b) Information collected automatically

  • Anonymous usage data (such as screen interactions) may be collected to improve the App. This data does not identify you personally.

  • Device information (device type, operating system, app version) for compatibility and troubleshooting.

  • Crash and error logs (no personal content) to diagnose issues and improve stability.

c) Information we do NOT collect

  • We do not collect your name, address, phone number, or precise location.

  • We do not access your contacts, photos, microphone, or camera.

  • We do not collect bank or payment details inside the App.

  • We do not sell your data to third parties.

3. How we use your information

We use the limited information we collect to:

  • Provide the core features of the App (energy calculations, insights, reminders).

  • Save your devices, tariffs, and preferences locally on your device.

  • Improve performance, fix bugs, and develop new features.

  • Respond to feedback or support requests you send us.

  • Comply with legal obligations.

We rely on the following lawful bases under UK GDPR:

  • Legitimate interests – to operate and improve the App.

  • Consent – where required (for example, optional analytics or notifications).

  • Contract – to provide the service you request.

4. Where your data is stored

Most of your data (devices, tariffs, settings) is stored locally on your device. If you uninstall the App, this data is removed.

Limited anonymous analytics and crash data may be processed by trusted service providers acting as data processors on our behalf. These providers may store data outside the UK; where they do, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.

5. Third-party links and affiliate links

The App contains links to third-party websites, including Amazon. Some of these are affiliate links, meaning we may earn a small commission if you make a purchase through them, at no extra cost to you. These links are clearly labelled in the App.

When you tap an outbound link, you leave the App and are subject to the privacy policy of that third party. We are not responsible for the content or practices of external sites.

6. Advertising

Energy Usage IQ does not display third-party advertising networks. Any items labelled "Ad" or "Sponsored" inside the App refer to our own affiliate product suggestions, not personalised advertising trackers.

7. Children's privacy

The App is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us at info@coretechstudios.com and we will delete it.

8. Your rights

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.

  • Request correction of inaccurate data.

  • Request deletion of your data.

  • Object to or restrict certain processing.

  • Withdraw consent at any time (where processing is based on consent).

  • Data portability.

  • Lodge a complaint with the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.

To exercise any of these rights, email info@coretechstudios.com. Because most data stays on your device, you can also exercise some rights directly by clearing the App data or uninstalling the App.

9. Data retention

  • On-device data is kept until you delete it or uninstall the App.

  • Anonymous analytics and crash logs are retained for a limited period (typically up to 14 months) and then deleted or aggregated.

  • Feedback emails are kept only as long as necessary to respond to you and resolve your query.

10. Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit (HTTPS) and limited access to any data we process. No system is 100% secure, but we work hard to safeguard your information.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top. Significant changes will be highlighted in the App or on our website.
